An autumnal leaf

Cricket Wood Plant List

Cricket Wood is a new woodland garden and arboretum at Bryan’s Ground. The level site extends to almost four acres, bisected by a stream and divided by vistas and hedges. David Wheeler began planting in January 2000, concentrating on autumn colour. Hardy exotics are nursed by a few native species — birch, cherry, poplar and Scots pine. The following is a list of specimen trees and shrubs planted up to the end of 2001. An article by David Wheeler about the creation of Cricket Wood was published in The Daily Telegraph on 15th September 2001 and in Holfordiana (journal of the Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum) in Summer 2002.
